airportaerial.jpg Peter Mckinney, Director of Development, has announced that certain member aircraft can now operate out of the private airstrip here on Ambergris Cay subject to interim restrictions. The new Ambergris Cay Airport and its 5,700 foot Jet Strip is currently operating under a Restricted Aerodrome Certificate that will require any international flights to clear Customs and Immigration in Providenciales prior to arrival at Ambergris Cay. Though we expect certification for international flights to be completed soon, this certificate allows for aircraft having a type certified maximum passenger seating capacity of 9 or fewer to land at Provo and then fly into Ambergris. We have also launched a new web microsite for the airport at, www.ambergriscayairport.com. On the site is a wealth of flight planning information for pilots and owners including an interim flight crew information package, flight details, a link to the current weather and an email link to contact the flight operations staff at Ambergris Cay Airport. More details will be announced on the full certification for international flights. Official announcement of that certification will occur in a few weeks. In the interim, we are excited a this development and look forward to seeing your aircraft touchdown on your island.
